This is an exciting time of the year. For those of us who observe the Christian Calendar, we know that we are swiftly approaching the season of Advent.

The season of Advent ushers us into the celebration of the birth of our Savior Jesus The Christ. The dictionary definition of the term "advent" is: "The coming or arrival, especially of something awaited or momentous". There is, therefore, no more perfect term for the celebration of the arrival of our Lord and Savior Jesus The Christ.

We celebrate it annually because, for Christians, there is nothing more momentous and miraculous. Our Savior was born in a manger by a virgin --- humble and miraculous beginnings of the most awsome and transformative life in the history of the World. Certainly, as momentous as this celebration is, we must remember that Christmas is NOT about Santa Claus, "exchanging" of gifts, toys, etc. Most of all, it is not about us, except that because of HIS coming, we have the opportunity of eternal life with HIM.

As we know, before the celebration of Christmas, we celebrate Thanksgiving. What could be a more fitting reason for Thanks-Giving than the than the birth of our Lord and Savior. He must be our first object of Thanksgiving. May God bless your holidays with the Peace Of God.

Pastor McLin
